Human or Not

Human or Not is an interactive web-based game created by AI21 Labs that challenges users to distinguish between human and AI chat partners in short text-based conversations. After entering the game, users are matched in timed chat sessions where they can ask questions, respond freely, and observe language patterns to decide whether the counterpart is a person or an AI model. At the end of each round, users make a prediction and immediately see whether they were correct, along with aggregate statistics on how others have answered similar interactions.

The tool’s core capability lies in showcasing the current sophistication of large language models in a controlled, engaging environment. It allows individuals, researchers, and educators to explore how AI-generated text compares to human communication in terms of style, coherence, and nuance.
