ChatArena

ChatArena is an open-source framework for building and studying multi-agent language game environments for large language models. It provides a structured way to create scenarios in which multiple LLM-based agents interact, communicate, compete, or collaborate through natural language. Researchers and developers can define environments as “games” with configurable rules, roles, goals, and rewards, then observe how agents behave and improve over time.

The framework supports turn-based interactions, role assignment, and flexible conversation flows, making it suitable for tasks such as negotiation, debate, cooperative problem-solving, instruction following, and social simulations. ChatArena is model-agnostic: it can integrate different LLM backends and agent policies, enabling direct comparison of models and strategies in identical environments. It also supports human-in-the-loop setups, where humans can participate as agents or evaluators.
