Project Genie is a web-based experimental research tool that uses world models to let users generate, navigate, and remix interactive environments from text and images.
Project Genie is an experimental web-based prototype from Google Labs that lets users create, explore, and remix interactive virtual worlds powered by the Genie 3 world model. Its primary purpose is to make advanced world modeling technology accessible for hands-on experimentation, enabling users to generate dynamic environments that respond in real time to their actions. Access is currently available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. (18+).
Project Genie combines Genie 3 with Nano Banana Pro and Gemini to support three core capabilities: world sketching, world exploration, and world remixing. Users can describe their world with text, upload or generate images, and define traversal modes (e.g., walking, riding, flying, driving), as well as camera perspective (first- or third-person). Nano Banana Pro provides a visual preview and fine-grained control over the look of the world before entering it. Once created, worlds become navigable environments where Genie 3 generates the path ahead in real time, simulating physics and interactions within the scene. Users can also browse a gallery of curated worlds, remix existing prompts, and download videos of their explorations.
