Terraform

Terraform is an open-source infrastructure as code (IaC) tool that allows teams to define, provision, and manage infrastructure across multiple cloud providers and services using a declarative configuration language. It supports a wide range of platforms, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and many others through an extensive provider ecosystem. Using HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL), users describe resources such as virtual machines, networks, storage, DNS records, and managed services in version-controlled files.

Terraform’s core capabilities include plan and apply workflows, which let users preview changes before they are executed, ensuring predictable and auditable infrastructure modifications. Its state management tracks real-world resources, enabling incremental updates, drift detection, and collaboration among team members. Modules promote reuse and standardization by encapsulating common infrastructure patterns into shareable components.
