Temporal

Temporal is an open-source durable execution platform designed to simplify building and running long-lived, reliable applications. It enables developers to write workflow logic as normal code while Temporal handles state management, retries, timeouts, and recovery. The primary purpose of Temporal is to make distributed, fault-tolerant systems easier to build and maintain by abstracting away complex orchestration logic.

Temporal provides a programming model where workflows and activities are defined in code using familiar languages such as Go, Java, TypeScript, and Python. It guarantees workflow execution through automatic retries, state persistence, and deterministic replays, even across process restarts or infrastructure failures. Temporal also supports versioning of workflows, enabling safe evolution of business processes over time without breaking in-flight executions.
