GitHits is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool that connects Claude Code to real-world GitHub repositories so it can learn directly from production-grade code. Its primary purpose is to show how APIs, patterns, and edge cases are handled in practice, allowing AI coding agents to ground their suggestions in concrete, battle-tested implementations. By giving Claude access to live code examples, Githits helps close knowledge gaps that static documentation or training data may miss.

GitHits enables structured exploration of repositories, letting Claude search, filter, and inspect codebases to understand how specific libraries, frameworks, or API endpoints are used. It can surface multiple implementations of the same pattern, making it easier to compare approaches, trade-offs, and idioms across projects.
