Local-first Mac desktop AI copilot that records live calls, transcribes speech, captures screen context, and organizes interviews, meetings, and research sessions into summaries, notes, and action items.
ExtraBrain is a local-first Mac desktop AI copilot designed for live interviews, technical discussions, meetings, lectures, and research calls. It runs as a standalone desktop app rather than joining as a meeting bot, giving users more control over privacy and workflow. Its primary purpose is to capture and organize live context—spoken, visual, and written—so you can stay focused on the conversation instead of manual note-taking.
ExtraBrain provides live transcription for interviews, meetings, and calls, using local Parakeet transcription by default with optional Deepgram integration. It is screen-aware via periodic screenshots, allowing the AI to reference what is on your display alongside the transcript and your notes. Users can keep everything on-device with compatible Gemma AI models or connect their own OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude, Codex, or OpenAI-compatible providers. Profiles for coding interviews, system design rounds, behavioral interviews, assistant-style help, and general meetings tailor prompts, structure, and outputs to each type of session. Post-session, ExtraBrain generates summaries, action items, saved facts, and searchable session history.
